Quite some time ago, I held a sketch challenge competition...and I never announced the winners! My sincerest apologies to all who entered. Thank you...your layouts were just gorgeous and I really appreciate you sharing them with me and the Storyboard community.

To enter, scrappers had to create a layout based on this sketch, and include one of the techniques the Storyboard team had shared previously. I really enjoyed the diversity of interpretations of the sketch!

In other Storyboard Kits news...
Thank you to everyone for your patience over the last few months. It has been a particularly trying time personally, and I have been unable to devote time to my business like I should have. I cannot apologise enough. Please email me if you wish to discuss anything regarding previous purchases.

After a few months hiatus, I am working hard to rebuild Storyboard Kits. A new online store, a new community gallery, a new kit and new guest designers each month....starting 15 April 2012. Hi guys,
Just popped in to share a couple of layouts with you using the "Louie" kit.
For this one I have used the diecut paper and cut some circles out of it. I really loved how the turned out!

This one is quite a simple style layout (well for me anyway!). I used my cricut machine to create the heart mask in the background. I love using my cricut for this!!! I also used it to cut the circles (yep my obsession at the moment...just ask the mojo girls!!!) using the yellow cardstock! Just a few ideas for those who have cricut machines!

I am just loving all the elements and embellishments in this kit…the butterflies and lace and pearls..YUMMY!!!!!!!!!!!!

In this layout,I create my own calico flower, but otherwise all the embellies you will find in the kit. I have cut out the frame and flowers from the pattern paper, and used it as another layer on this layout!

You can see how I have layered the basic grey stickers,the diecut journaling sheet, along with the lace, ribbon and flowers to create this embellishment cluster!

I love the amount of aqua in this kit. it works so perfectly the pinks and yellow. For this layout, I have focussed on the aqua elements in the kit. i have used the doily as a mask and misted in several places on the background sheet. Then I have used the altered doily as another layer on the layout!

I have used the Prima flower with the Jenni Bowlin butterfly, along with the Basic grey Stickers and Authentique diecuts to create a cluster, and have added more texture by folding and stapling the organza ribbon.

When I first received the kit, I fell in love. It is filled with such pretty papers and accessories. Even though I am not usually inspired by ‘pretty’ papers, I found these really easy to use, and the reverse sides are very suited to masculine scrappers like myself.
First layout I create with the kit is also the Inspired Blueprints sketch #77(currently on their blog). I used a lot of stitching to create interest and dimension, as I could flap up the butterfly wings once they were attached with the stitching. The burgundy paper lace is just perfectly suited to be put with the grey doily/lace paper!

I will be back with more layouts from this kit!

This busy Basic Grey paper originally freaked me out a little, it's not one I would normally reach for. I used some of the red doily and a strip of the white die-cut paper behind my photo and minimal embellishment as it's not hard for it all to get "lost" with such a busy backround.

I wanted to keep this page fun and bold - which pretty much sums up my personality as the journalling reads.

Another page from this month's "Louie" kit. I created this by using one of the "negetive" sides of the paper and the decorative sticker sheet that comes in the kit! By outling the stickers and gives them a bit of "texture" and makes them stand out against the backround paper.

Time to share my last layout using Louie, July's wonderful kit. If you haven't got yourself one of these ... I highly recommend that you do! Great kit.

I loved the doily paper, so I just trimmed it down a little and attached it to the maroon cardstock to frame the layout and tie in the other maroon elements on the layout (paper tape and journaling block).

I also used one of the frame stickers from the sticker sheet to frame around the journaling block and bring in some more of the aqua blue which I repeated with the small journal block sticker and the beautiful flowers.

The sentiment card in the kit was the perfect title and journaling for this layout so I layered it onto the journaling block to, creating a nice cluster of elements.

I look forward to sharing next month's kit with you!

Another Louie layout to share ...

Although girly, I thought that these papers were just perfect for the photos of Benson wearing the pretty chain of flowers that he made at after school care.

I trimmed around the mirror image so that I could slide the paper doily in behind it. I cut individual pearls to include in the body of the butterflies.

Here my first layout using this month's awesome Storyboard Kit, Louie! It's totally gorgeous, so of course I refered back to using some of my wedding photos. I kept this one nice and simple, focusing on using all the great embellishments in the kit.

As we speak I'm at Camp Mojo scrapping with my fellow Storyboard girls, Ebony, Wendy and Lisa and I'll have a few more pages to share with you over the next few days.

Hi, I am back to share another of my layouts using July's kit, "Louie".

Detail shots:

The lace is gathered by folding tucks in it and stapling them with my tiny attacher.

The kits works so well together that I just layered up a heap of different patterned papers, stickers, journalling spots and flowers together to give the layout depth and dimension.

I am really liking the sketch behind this layout - so I scraplifted this from myself! Great way to get started on a layout is to base it of one that you have already done.

Over the next couple of days I will be sharing with you the layouts that I created using "Louie". "Louie" is not my usual style and I was a little concerned, but I have to say it has ended up being one of my favourite kits - 4 layouts just fell into place so easily. Lisa sure knows how to rock putting kits together!

My first layout ...

This is my parents with their two grandkids. We live nearly 2,000kms away from my Mum and Dad and Miami, so I was really keen to get a photo of them all together, but it was not meant to be. But I just had to scrap these photos - I think Benson's expressions are classic!

The pink flower from the add on kit is just so YUM!

To make the pearls that I scattered on the page I just cut individual pearls from the string that was part of the kit - the best bit? The pearls have flat backs so it makes them easy to attach to the layout with glue dots.

The Great Storyboard Challenge!

Have you entered the Great Storyboard Challenge yet? Entry is so easy, and the prizes are fabulous! All you need to do is create a layout based on the sketch at the bottom of this post and include a technique that has been shared on the Storyboard blog. Simple!

I tackled the sketch at Friday night's crop using this month's Storyboard kit "Louie". Just love that butter yellow cardstock teamed with that fun Basic Grey print. I have also used the add-on kit which includes Basic Grey border and epoxy stickers and those gorgeous Prima tulle flowers.

I made a little coordinating concertina flower to accompany the Prima tulle flower, and a spiral flower, which is one of the techniques you could use. The centre of the flower is a dot from the thickers included with the kit.

Here's the sketch if you want to play along. All you need is two 6x4 photos...no need to use a Storyboard Kit, just use what's in your stash!

More Kelsey Inspiration....

Hi everyone,
Ebony here. Just wanted to pop in and show you the layouts I have created using the gorgeous Kelsey kit!
I'm a HUGE fan of Crate paper and LOVE to use their stickers so this kit was perfect for me!!!

The first 3 layouts are of Will but I managed to create a girlish layout too which I will show you too!!

I loved the Bo Bunny paper that had all the speech bubbles on it! iIcut out the various words and used them on my layouts...

So this one is a girly layout!!!! I used my Cricut to cut out some hearts and filled them with the various patterned papers in the kit.I even used the packaging from the Bo bunny trims!!! And guess what!!??? I even made those flowers!!! I will show you how to make these roses in a few days!!!

So I will be back in a day or so with a tutorial on making those paper roses! See you then,

How to | using pinwheel flowers

You be forgiven if you thought the latest kit from Storyboard Kits was just for scrapping boys. It has a wonderful arrangement of boyish products that are perfect for the men in your lives. :) But I thought I'd challenge myself and create a layout featuring my daughter and flowers!!!

It was simple enough to take the Basic Grey pinwheels and add a stitched stem to the layout.

To add the stem, mark in pencil the length you require and then pre-pierce the paper with a needle or paper piercer. (I use the splinter remover from our first aid kit!!) Pierce the paper by eyeballing the stitch lengths. Alternatively, you can measure the exact stitch lengths you would like by using a ruler. Back stitch using embroidery thread and a colour that matches your layout.

The Bo Bunny wraps were also used as rolled flowers and as touch of bling to the top corner. The colours I've chosen have an outdoorsy feel but were softened using "vanilla" ink and distressing around the edges of the main patterned paper.

And there you have it. A "girly" layout....x

Hi Everyone! Leanne here today to share some ideas using the gorgeous Kelsey kit, in 8.5" x 11" layouts.

This kit has an amazing variety of patterned paper and of course, most definitely boy orientated! LOL! I have chosen to combine the use of the primary colours featured on a layout about my youngest school age son.

Ethan is in his first year of school and his Prep class was very recently involved in Under 8's Week. Both of the layouts here, feature some of the photos taken that day. I created the "Inquisitive" layout to document his nature...and it sure came to light during the educational process, that was Under 8's!!! :D

"Inquisitive"

When creating this layout, I had a full sheet of American Crafts thickers to play with (included in the kit). However, I wanted to use alphas that were both upper and lower case. As the thickers are all in Capital letters, I had to get inventive! LOL! I have used the #1's as letter i's and the letter "Q" is put together using the zero and a hyphen.

The fabric cogs in the kit were an added bonus to this page as I am constantly wondering how the boy's mind ticks over! hee hee...

In my second layout, I wanted to document the generalities about the open day at school. It is a simple layout but effectively documents the facts and the fun we had that day.

"Under 8's"

The soft colour palette allows focus to fall on the journalling but I have added some fun elements as well, in the form of the pinwheel and star printed banner.

Kelsey Technique | Painted Backgrounds

Using paint of my backgrounds is my favourite technique at the moment. It's a great way to add some depth to your page and draw the eye in to the main elements.

I start by positioning my photos on the page and visualising how I want to layout to "flow", thinking about where I will be placing papers etc.

I then dip the end of an old card (in my case a spotlight card!) into my blob of paint, using a smaller amount for lighter strokes, or a larger amount of paint for heavy, thick strokes.

I find I have more control using a smaller amount, I can then go over at again if I want it thicker. You can also create small "splats" by using light strokes when most of the paint has been applied and the card is nearly dry.

Once the paint has dried you can can then finish your page off with papers and embellishments. I find using less actually compliments the effect of the paint!

The bedrooms are spacious and will accommodate 2-4 people...no one has to sleep on a top bunk!

Technique / Journaling by Wendy Smith

Some people like to and some people don’t. Some people do it lots, and others barely at all.

It is an individual thing really, but journaling is one of those integral parts of every layout i do. So i decided that i would show you 4 different journaling styles you can use on your layouts, and maybe try something different if you want to

INTERVIEW STYLE

Write a few simple questions down and interview your subject. This is great to do with children, because they come up with some really unique answers and insights. You might just find out something you didn’t know about your subject that is worth documenting

STORY TELLING

Somethings warrant a story. My layout “MR MONKEY” was about a character that Charlie made up, and it really needed explaining and a story. So if you have a picture that has a great tale behind it…share it! Not just the usually who/what/when/where but the why of a story can really make your journaling worth the read.

JUST THE FACTS

Some layouts only need the fact..the picture tells the story. These are the layouts where there is so much going on in the picture that you only need the who/what/when/where and you can actually omit the why! In my layout ‘FAVORITE THINGS” the picture tells everything you need to know…the kids are in a lolly shop for goodness sake!

JOURNALING AS A DESIGN FEATURE

Try using your journaling as a design feature on your layout, by creating borders, or shapes with your words. In the layout “Crazy Kid”, I have used my journaling as a border around the kraft cardstock, and almost used like I would normally use doodling. Just something a little different to look at and read.

So don’t fear journaling, embrace it. It not only makes the memories last forever but it also personalizes your page.

This would have to be the best kit that I have ever received from Storyboard…mine you I am a little biased as this one is a ‘boyish’ kit, and I love scrapping boys (have no choice really..LMAO)

I did four layouts with this kit, but I have plenty of left overs to create another 2-3 layouts.

this first layout i decided to use glimmermist to create a background effect with, and then used strips of various papers, and a heap of the Crate paper sticker elements to create a feature. I love the way it turned out!

For this layout, I have used a lot distressing and inking, and i have also created a flag banner with some paper strips and the little letters from Jenni Bowlin. Super cute way of starting a title I thought

Loved the bright blue cardstock in the kit, as it works so perfectly with the Jenni Bowlin papers and the Basic Grey. I used some Marshmellow Glimmermist to create a splattered background effect. I alos inked over the bright blue thickers with some black ink just to make them stand out on the blue background more.

I just adore the backsides of most papers, and this kit is no exception. I decided to use them as the main focus for this layout. I made a feature out of the Bo Bunny Ribbon and the heaps of brads that are in the kit…looks cute hey?

just adored this kit as I said, divine colour, and divine embellishments…all round YUM!

I just love using ribbon and fabric on my pages right now! It gives an added texture and depth that paper just can't give to a layout. Kelsey came with some gorgeous trim from Bo Bunny - not only have I used the green material in a bow on my page...

but I've also used the colourful packaging behind my photos as well!

With this page I have cut some of my embellishments out of the patterned paper, like the ticket and the strip of numbers up the top of my layout. By using the ticket tucked in the side under the photos I have been able to journal on it as well.

I've also finished of embellishing the page using one of the material cogs, a pinwheel and some twine to continue with the fun theme!

This month's kit was perfect for some fun and bright boy themed pages! I have used a couple of the cute pinwheels on this page along with the back side of the Basic Grey packaging - nothing goes to waste from my kit's!

This page was all about our names for Lachlan whom we call Lockie or Lock for short!

Jarvis / Technique by Wendy Smith

In the Jarvis Kit last month, we all received a section of dress pattern tissue paper, I I always like to use it in different ways on my layout. I saw Lisa used it as a ruffle on one of hers, and Kim incorporated it in her Lollipop flower. I used mine to create several layered scrunched flowers.

In this layout, I have layered the dress pattern flower amongst other embellishments on my page.

Here is how to make the flower.

1- Assemble your circle punches and folded dress pattern

2- Slide your folded paper through and punch out several layers of tissue paper

3- Repeat process with the smaller sized punch

4- layer your smaller circles on top of the later circles, and sew on a button to connect them all

5- scrunch the layers of dress pattern paper, and spread out as needed. There you have a unique flower for your layout!

I used them on several of my Jarvis layouts and left them plain, but for this layout I inked it with some Tim Holts Distress Ink. Glimmermist works well too!

Another day and another layout with the fabulous May kit, Kelsey ...

For this layout I have created a cluster of the smaller pinwheel stickers in the top right corner and a cluster of stickers in the bottom right. The label from one of the patterned papers was just perfect for this very boy layout. The fabric strip included in the kit was just the perfect finishing touch tied with a knot under the small photos.

Hi! Kim here again with my next layout from the Kelsey kit...

For this layout I started by cutting out the sunburst from the diecut paper. I loved the idea of the sunburst on the navy cardstock. I then carried through the red and yellow with red punched circles of different sizes and the yellow star stickers which I mounted on foam tape. This is a really simple layout but is a great way to scrap a heap of small photos from a great day out.

Hi! Kim here. This is my week to host the Storyboard Kits blog and I have the pleasure of sharing layouts and inspiration from the May kit, Kelsey. This kit has a definite boy slant and I have utilised that to the full to scrap some real BOY pages!

My first layout that I did with the kit was this one. It just happened that I put on a movie and the stars in the Paramount logo that came up at the start of the movie inspired the circle of stars in this layout.
And some detail shots ...
I have also handcut the title which is a great way to get a title which co-ordinates perfectly with your layout.

Jarvis Inspiration by Ebony.....

Hi everyone,Ebony here!!! Just popped in to share the layouts I have created with the really awesome "Jarvis" kit. Anyone that knows my scrapping style would know that I love using paint and adding layers so as you can imagine i was very excited to see there was a great "crafter's workshop" template in this months kit!!! I love these templates and I have used it in nearlly all of my layouts!!!

Here is my first layout...
I love the My minds Eye frames and tags and on this one I used both!!!! They are perfect for highlighting your photo! I also cut from my cricut a frame which I used as a mask to add interest to my misted background. I even pulledout my old script stamp and added somemore layering to the background! I used some of the lace and some strips from the gorgeous selection of papers in the kit.

My next layout...... I used some mod podge to adhere some scrunched dress pattern paper ontothe background! Can you spot the template!!!! (spot..haha!!)

For this next layout I used the template coupled with somehearts cut from the patterned paper with cards on it, to create the background. Instead of filling in every hole in the template , stipple the paint in random holes. Then cut the hearts out and fill in someof the gaps!

So my last layout is a fun, kinda grungey one!!!!

I added in some yellow paint with a swipe of a credit card then over the top used the template to create a random dot effect!!! I just had to cut out someof those birds...too cute!!!

Now this is where you learn something about me!!!! i am a lazy scrapper when it comes to making my own embellishments...yep its true!!!! So when I needed to make a flower that was quick, simple and effective this is what I did!!! On the paper that has the cards printed on it, cut out 5 hearts all the same size. Depending on what pattern you want to use fold them in half and arrange into a flower shape on your layout. Once happy adhere and add a button!!! VOILA!!!! How easy!!!!

How to | create a grungy banner

Banners have been in trend for quite some time. And why not! They are fabulous and fun elements on a layout and very easy to create.

Here's how I created a grungy look banner for a boy page.

Materials needed: red twill ribbon, Fancy Pants patterned paper, ink, staples, foam squares.

step 1.

Cut the patterned paper to the size you require. I have simply cut out the gingham/Love, Live, Laugh strip and trimmed it into 1" segments.

step 2.
Cut the 1" segments into the triangle shape, as shown above.

step 3.

Scrunch, fold and generally rough up the triangular patterned paper shape.

step 4.

Ink the edges generously with a co-ordinating colour. I have used Versacolor pinecone.

step 5.

Place a foam square on each of the reverse sides of the distressed banner pieces.

step 6.

Fold the twill ribbon in half along its length and place the top of the triangular banner shape inside. Staple the ribbon to the paper. Continue until you have your desired banner length.

step 7.

Add the banner to your layout using the foam squares.

The red, black and cream colour combo of this layout reinforces the grunge look. I especially love the graffiti type writing found on the same piece of patterned paper as the banner strip.

Jarvis | Inspiration by Leanne Allinson

Jarvis not only comes with new and fabulous patterned paper lines but, this kit is also crammed full of wonderful little bits and pieces! The embellishments, such as twine, buttons and brads definitely contribute to the finishing touches of layouts. And I have added and layered my layouts to near death with them! LOL! Fortunately, I don't think they look too crowded. :)

I like to cluster my embellishments to create a feeling of white space on my smaller sized pages. Layering under and over the top of photos also helps to draw the eye. The tickets used on the layout above were hand-cut from the Fancy Pants patterned paper and used on all three of the layouts featured here.

The Basic Grey label stickers are also a great way to embellish a layout. Of course, they are perfect for journaling but I like to think outside the box sometimes and use label stickers to highlight photos and other elements on a layout.

Clustering embellishments below photos also helps to anchor them in the space provided on the layout. The delicate colours of the doily, butterfly, twine and ticket patterned paper combine to compliment the photos of my daughter and still allow the photos to be the main focus.

An extra tip for clustering embellishments is to use foam tape. Not only does it give depth to the embellishments you are using, but it helps layer them much easier! ;)

Jarvis Inspiration by Crystal.

Jarvis had to be my favourite Storyboard Kit so far! It had the perfect mix of masculine and soft vintage papers and embellishments and went perfectly with my recent wedding photos.

The first layout I created using my usual painted base with some papers strips and some of the hessian cut into a strip as well. I created the lollipop flower using some of the hessian and one of the green leaf embellishments topped with a brad.

I used the large butterfly as my main embellishment for this page, placing some "foam dots" under the wings to bring it off the page. You can also see I have used some of the strip from the bottom of my "house of three" papers as this suited the theme of my three children perfectly!

With the die-cut paper, I trimmed the sides off to re-size it down to a 8.5 x 11. I have also used the journalling stickers as bases to build up clusters on my page.

I just loved the soft, feminine fabric in this kit and wanted it to be a central focus so I tied it in a large bow and stapled it directly onto the page.

Finally I went nice and simple with this page, using the template to create a "masked" background using some glimmermist. I finished it off with some paper strips, twine and staples to add a fun feel to the layout!

Jarvis | Inspiration by Kim Arnold

Hi, Kim here to share my layouts using the beautiful April Kit, Jarvis.

My first layout uses some of the fabric from the kit to make this cute little rolled fabric flower. The frame is also used to ground the photos - but not as a traditional frame as the photos flow over one side.

In my second layout I fussy cut a number of flowers from the beautiful Glitz rose paper which I tucked under and layered over various other elements. I also cut another of the playing cards out (which I used as embellishments on nearly all of my layouts this month).

For my third layout I made a lollipop flowers by layering the various fabrics, hessian and pattern paper in the kit. I will have a tutorial on making these flowers in a later post. I also used the doily to create another flower. The velvet leaves included in the kit just finished this cluster off perfectly.

For my final layout, I used lots of the bits and bobs that I still had left from the kit. All of the diecuts I inked lightly to give a softer look. I fussy cut more flowers which I tucked under the tear at the top as well as layering around the journaling card. I also utilised the three on the patterned paper that the photo is matted on and the House of Three logo from one of the paper salvage strips to reinforce the theme of my page. The final finishing touch is the twine which is used to link the 3 on the patterned paper to the punched hearts in the bottom right corner. I just used dabs of wet glue to hold the twine in place. Lots of inking on this layout too.

This kit was just so easy to use. I loved it and my layouts all came together so quickly and easily. Thanks Lisa!

The gorgeous mix of Aqua and red in this kit provided the perfect colour combination for this layout. Using the Crafter’s Workshop template to alter the cardstock, gave it a different look

Wendy has stapled the twill tape to create a ruffled effect

Wendy tends to use a lot of the backsides of the papers to create a masculine feel to the layout

She has used a decorative brad to attach the twine

The orange roses create a real vintage feel to this layout

Using the Pink Paislee diecuts, crochet doily and handmade flowers, Wendy has created a cluster

Jarvis | Inspiration by Lisa Warren

On Friday night, I got to play with my Jarvis kit again. I swear, this is the most value I've ever gotten out of a kit, with only a couple of scraps of paper left over. I completely used a sheet of Basic Grey stickers over the seven layouts...yes, seven! Here's the last three...

For this layout, I have added strips of Fancy Pants paper over the Pink Paislee base. This colour scheme suits black and white photos perfectly. The Basic Grey stickers have been raised up on foam tape. Thick black marker has been used for the doodled border...a thin one just wouldn't have added enough drama...lol.

Colourful strips of Fancy Pants paper cover the dotty background. To emulate the strips, I have used the strips leftover from the Glitz Design mini letters...love the glossy finish! A little white gel pen around the outside frames the layout.

Its not often I use a plain cardstock background, and to add a little more interest, I have added a random pattern of dots using the bonus Crafters Workshop template found in this months kit. I have created a lollipop flower using the burlap, fabric and dress makers pattern paper. The title of this layout comes from the lyrics of a Bruno Mars song. If ever you're stock, turn to a song for inspiration!

Jarvis | Inspiration by Lisa Warren

Finally, I've had a chance to play with my own kit! lol. So far I've created four layouts using Jarvis, and I have loads of product left to create at least another two-three layouts. Talk about great value!

This layout was inspired by the journaling tag by MME. I just loved the banner shape and thought I could mirror that with my photos. The photos were cut to 6"x3", then I notched out the bottom, using the tag as a template. To create the ruffled border, I trimmed the dress maker's pattern paper into 1" wide strips and joined them together. A strip of double sided tape was adhered to the back of the diecut, then the paper strip was pinched and added to the tape.

The background of this patterned paper by Bo Bunny was the jumping off point for this layout. I cut around the edge of the printed image and popped the MME diecut frame underneath to tie the two together. A few stickers, buttons and brads dotted along the diagonal add dimension and interest. Lastly, I added a freehand doodle border and inked circles in dark brown using the Crafters Workshop template included with the kit.

These photos were taken when Eme was 2 and Seth was 4...aren't they cute! Love dipping into my older photos. I have used the circle template on this one as well, but with mist instead of ink. I like the softness it adds to the bright robin's egg cardstock. The cute birds and "100% cute" strips were cut from the one piece of Fancy Pants patterned paper. To frame my photos, I drew a freehand border directly onto the photos using a permanent pen.

As soon as I saw this paper from Glitz's "Laced with Grace" collection, I knew those pretty roses NEEDED to be trimmed out and made into a feature. I have mixed in rolled roses using the same patterned paper, Basic Grey brads and burlap leaves by Prima to add more dimension. The random circles were inked using the template.

I can't wait to play with this kit some more, and I'll share some more layouts soon.

This month's kit "Jarvis" was released a little late this month...this is what happens when you're waiting on brand new release product! So new in fact, that the girls from Glitz hand delivered the lettering to my wholesaler just for me! Got to love that!!

The colours are reminiscent of Autumn with soft oranges, creams, browns, rusty red and a little teal thrown in to make it pop! Isla | Inspiration by Leanne Allinson

Although Jarvis is now available for sale, the inspiration for Isla continues with these gorgeous layouts by Leanne! Scrapped in 8.5x11, Leanne sure knows how to work as much magic as possible with this smaller format.

For this layout, Leanne has created her own journalling spot by stitching a square onto patterned paper. A little distressing with ink adds that finishing touch.

I love the blue paint in the corners of this layout. It really drives home the watery theme. Leanne has used the American Crafts packaging as the background for her title.

Leanne has used one of the vintage book page punched butterflies as a mask to add more pattern and definition to her layout. The sprayed butterfly has also been added underneath the photos, creating a well balanced look.

How-to | Create a layout with an uneven background

Kim Arnold shares with us, some tips for creating a layout that moves outside the 12x12 box!

Kim says...

Originally I was just going to put the diecut paper onto the spotted background – leaving the background 12x12. When I was fiddling around it was sitting on my desk with the diecut hanging of the side and I thought it looked great that way and so that was how I was going to do the page.

My tips for making sure that your page still ends up 12x12 so that you can get it in a page protector are:

Stick your die cut on where you want it
Line a whole sheet of 12x12 paper up over the top of the layout – lining up the edge of the whole sheet with the far edge of the diecut
Mark on the background of the layout where the 12 inch edge is and then trim. I find this the easiest way to make sure that the layout ends up the right size.
I also had my chipboard frame hanging off a little on the right side, so I just trimmed my background down a little further before I stuck the frame on – so the whole layout is still 12x12.

I would love to see you having a go at creating a “non-square” layout using some of the lovely diecut papers that Lisa includes in every kit.

Kim also shares this layout using the Isla kit. The butter background has been misted with green to compliment the other touches of green on her layout. I love the treatment Kim has give the tag and envelope. The envelope has been wrapped in May Arts ribbon and tied with twine. A simple butterfly and button finish it off.

Kim has also created a spiral flower using calico. The spiral was cut using pinking shears to give it a different look. A fabric brad placed in the centre, holds this flower in place. Additional flowers were created and layed on their side to add even more dimension.

Isla | Inspiration by Wendy Smith

More gorgeous layouts have been been created by Wendy using last month's kit "Isla". I just love this layout with its green and red colour scheme! The pop of blue highlights this page perfectly. Wendy has placed her green title on contrasting red, then trimmed out for great effect. Wendy has also trimmed off the scalloped edge from the diecut sheet to use it as a border...great use of product! Love the inked dots on this page too.

Wendy has worked her diecut magic on this one! Love the flowers Wendy has created for this layout. The American Crafts brad and fussy cut branch and bird houses make a great feature! A pleated strip of calico, twine and fabric brads finishes off the base of this layout beautifully.

Nom nom nom...too cute! The soft colours of the Making Memories background is perfect for a baby layout. Trimmed out branches and birdhouses raised up on foam tape, and knotted calico compliment these sweet photos.

Gorgeous work Wendy! I can't wait to see what you do with Jarvis!!

Isla | Inspiration by Crystal Bowman

Well, its about time I shared some more gorgeous layouts using Storyboard Kits!! Crystal created these four gorgeous layouts using last month's kit "Isla". Just love Crystal's trademark paint effects. I definitely need to try this technique out for myself!

For those of us that traditionally scrap 12x12, Crystal's layouts show you how to get out of that box! Here, Crystal has used the My Little Shoebox scallop diecut as her background to great effect. If you're concerned about how this layout might sit in your album, just place a white sheet of cardstock behind.

Love how Crystal has added a calico bow with staples to this one. All the little pops of colour against the black and white photos and black paint make this layout something special.

During March (actually, on my birthday!), Crystal married her partner! Congratulations!!! Love that she created this sweet layout to document their special moment. Can't wait to see layouts using her gorgeous wedding photos. Oh, and its not Crystal Bowman anymore, its Crystal Goulding...better go and update her profile pic!

I absolutely love the simplicity of this layout! Each element has been thoughtfully placed to compliment those sweet, sweet photos of Crystal's daughter.

Today's tip from Crystal...
To change up the look of plan calico, Crystal has tied the calico into a bow, then placed it into a snap lock bag. Green mist was sprayed into the bag, and then scrunched together so that the bow would soak up the mist! The end result is gorgeous!!

Isla | Inspiration by Ebony van der Starre

Today I have the pleasure of sharing three beautiful layouts Ebony has created using this month's kit "Isla". I absolutely love all the elements Ebony combines...from the painted and misted backgrounds, to the string and punched out elements. Ebony certainly knows how to make plain cardstock pop! Enjoy!!

Love the fun envelope Ebony has created using a sheet of My Little Shoebox patterned paper. Ebony has also cut the Scrapware doily frame in half so that she could use it in two locations on her layout...very effective.

Ebony has used a Scrapware doily frame as a mask to created a misted background. The coloured butterflies have been trimed out of a Making Memories journaling tag, then adhered to the layout down the spine. The wings have been bent up to add more dimension.

Such a fun layout! Ebony has punched out numerous circles from the striped patterned paper to add more interest, then outlined each of the holes and patterned papers in black pen. Love the two different spines for the butterflies...a pin for one, and brad for the other.

How to | create a layout step by step

Today's "how to" post comes from Wendy Smith. Wendy has created this super cute Easter layout using the journaling sheets found in this month's kit "Isla". Follow the steps below to create your own version.

Here's how...
Step1 - Using glimmermist, spritz and flick over base cardstock

Step2 - Repeat glimmermist process using a different colour in the back of one of the journal blocks

Step3 - Layer your journal blocks and chipboard doily to create a unique pattern, and matting for your photos

Step 4 - Slide your photos slightly under the scrapware chipboard doily

Step 5 - Adhere your ribbon and cluster your flowers around the chipboard doily

Step 6 - Cut out the butterflies from the journal blocks, and scatter them on your layout

FINALLY...Cut out a circle shape and place on your doily to journal on, place your title and doodle around the edge with a pen

Such a beautiful and simple layout to replicate. The colours of "Isla" are just perfect for Easter layouts, and now's the time to catch up on last year's photos before this Easter hops along!

First up, this super sweet Easter layout. "Isla" is a perfect mix of bright and pastel...just perfect for those bunny photos.

What a great use of the My Little Shoebox diecut! Why not try cutting your backing page shorter to showcase that diecut! Love the butterflies flying off the journaling spot. Don't they match perfectly.

To soften the colour of the peach cardstock, Kim has spritzed the background with white mist...just perfect for baby girl layouts.

How-to | create organza flowers and bunting

Today's how-to comes from Wendy...

Here's a great use for the chipboard circles included in the "Hudson" kit! Wendy has used it as the base for an organza flower. Creating an organza flower without any kind of support would be a difficult task. Wendy shows you here how easy it can be!

First up...create an organza flower

Step1 - place a blob of glue in the centre of the chipboard circle

Step 2 - start scrunching and curling the ribbon around in a circle

Step 3 - once you are happy with the look of the ribbon stick the end piece to the base

Step 4 - spray glimmermist in your choice of colour on the flower to compliment your layout

Step 5 - leave to dry

Step 6 - adhere a little rosette brad in the centre for decoration

(you could use a button or a different kind of brad)

Bunting on layouts continues to grow in popularity. Here Wendy shares with you how to create a fun bunting element for your next layout!

Now onto the bunting...

Step 7 - with pinking scissors, cut your paper on an angle to create a triangle shape

Step 8 - ink the edges of each triangle

Step 9 - using 3D tape, adhere to your layout in a curved shape

Step 10- carefully glue on some twine to finish off the banner look and place buttons either end!

Here's the final product! Wendy has used the bunting across the top of her layout, and created a cluster of elements incorporating the organza flower. Such a sweet layout about Wendy's boys.

Leanne Allinson is our resident 8.5x11 scrapbooker, and the way she converts 12x12 sketches to her chosen format is just magic! For this layout, Leanne has used the Sketchy Thursdays sketch pictured below, as her inspiration. To squeeze in all the photos, Leanne has swapped the square photos for rectangle ones, allowing her to stay true to the overall feel of the sketch. All the other elements have stayed the same. The end result is a well balanced and thought out layout. Love all the stitching too!

Love how Leanne has used the "Irresistible" patterned paper as her background. The whimsical print suits her photos perfectly.

Hudson | Inspiration by Lisa Warren

Popping by again to share another couple of layouts I've created using this month's Storyboard Kit "Hudson". So this is layout 3 and 4, and I still have another two to share. Talk about great value!

I took this photo of Eme not long after her birthday at the end of September last year. She absolutely loves that bike and couldn't wait to go for a ride! Not even for Andrew to mow the lawn first. lol. She whizzes around the backyard, under the swing set, around the back, down the side of the house and back again. Lots of safe practice before she hits the roads. Love that she matches her outfit to the bike! hehehe.

This next one features a photo of Seth and his cousin George. Seth has declared that they are "criends"...that's cousins and friends for the uninitiated! There is only 3 months age difference between the boys and they love playing together. Such a shame we don't get to catch up very often. Mind you, five minutes together and its like they've never been apart!

Looking forward to sharing the next two layouts with you. Just need to put the finishing touches on them. You know how it feels when you look at a layout and it just needs something. That's how I feel about the other two. Oh well, back to it...

Hudson | Inspiration by Lisa Warren

This month sees the release of "Hudson" in the Storyboard Kits store...and there's only 2 left already! Hudson is full to the brim of lovey dovey goodness and includes brand new releases from Sassafras Lass and WeR Memory Keepers. There's also gorgeous tags from Shabby Chic Crafts, and gorgeous red thickers! Plenty of product to get you creating...so far I've created five layouts with this kit, which I'll share over the next few days.

For this layout, I have used Sassafras Lass for the base. Love that frame on the paper! These photos were taken by my sister and I love how cheeky they were being for her. Definitely unconditional love here. lol.

This one features pics of Eme and her baby cousin Cameron. She absolutely adores him and smothers him in kisses and cuddles whenever they are together. On this particular day, she covered him in toys to play with...even though he was too young to move around and grab them at the time. Sweet girl. lol.

Kit release | Hudson February 2011

Yesterday saw the release of "Hudson" in the Storyboard Kits store...and at this stage, ITS SOLD OUT! Looks like everyone is looking to document a little love in their lives. I love this kit. The colours are so fresh and the pops of purple and grey are great to diffuse the red that symbolises Valentines.

Hudson also includes loads of journaling tags from Shabby Chic Crafts, Pink Paislee and post-it. One of my favourite scrapbooking trends at the moment is including keys and plastic flower brads, and Hudson has a sampling of these fun embellies from American Crafts included!

In this kit you will find new release papers from Sassfras' "Paper Crush" and WeRMemory Keepers "Be My Valentine" collections, as well as a few favourites from Bella Blvd and Fancy Pants.

Bo Bunny double dot papers are included in lieu of traditional cardstock. Double dots are great as a base for layouts, and for those scrapbookers that aren't confident using a patterned background, they are a great introduction.

How-to | create a layout step by step

Today's how-to comes from Ebony...

Follow along step by step to create a gorgeous layout featuring your favourite portrait pic.

Step 1: Cut between 10 and 12 strips of various patterned papers found in the Giselle kit. Cut them to varied lengths and widths and adhere to a piece of cardstock as shown.

Step 2: Add in some of the journalling tags and bingo card.

Step 3 : Add in a 4x6 inch photo and then a title and journalling.

Step 4: Take an inside piece from one of your pink paislee artisian frames and cut in half. Paint them two different colors. Add some more strips of papers to the top of your layout and the bottom right hand side. I have also used some torn up journalling cards also found in the kit. Once the painted frames are dry adhere them also as shown.

Step 5: Add in some flowers and some buttons, add in some doodling around the edges of your papers and photo and you are done!

How-to | create a spiral flower

Today's tip comes from Kim...

This is a step by step tutorial for making a felt spiral flower using the piece of felt in your January Storyboard Kits kit. I have used this flower on my “remember” layout – I simply sprayed it with a pink and cream mist to change its colour.

Step 1 – cut a square approximately 3.5 inches from the felt

Step 2 – handcut a circle from this square (cutting a square first makes it easier to get a more even handcut circle)

Step 3 – cut the circle into a spiral leaving a small circle in the middle (this forms the bottom of the flower). When you cut a spiral you will end up with a “lump” in the spiral under the starting point – I like to trim this to make the spirals more even. The deeper your spirals, the deeper the petals of the finished flower will be – so be careful not to end up with a flower too big to fit in a page protector.

Step 4 – with the spiral lying on the table in the same way as the picture in step 3, start rolling the flower starting with the outside point of the spiral and roll anticlockwise

Step 5 – keep rolling around until all you have left is the round centre circle. Try and keep the bottom edge flat as you roll as it is hard to flatten it when you are finished (the felt sticks together). The outer petals of the flower will open as you complete the rolling process.

Step 6 – add a fast drying glue to the middle circle piece – you need to be reasonably generous.

Step 7 – fold the bottom under the flower and hold until the glue grabs

Step 8 – your flower is done!

Create this gorgeous layout following Leanne's step by step tutorial below.

Materials used from Giselle kit

Cardstock – kraft

Patterned Paper – October Afternoon; Cosmo Cricket; Basic Grey laser cut doily

Alphabet – American Crafts thickers (Lax)

Embellishments – Shabby Chic journal cards; basic grey curio element stickers; string; buttons; felt;

Other - ink (versacolor); machine stitching; gimmermist (tattered angels: sunflower); sharpie pen – black; circle punch.

Here's how:

1. Cut your cardstock to size (8.5 x11”).

2. Trim the Basic Grey laser cut doily patterned paper (x2) to your liking, to create 2 masks. Use a scrap piece of paper (5.5 x 6”) to create a 3rd mask.

3. Place the scrap paper center left on your cardstock. Layer one of the doily trims at the lower left of scrap paper and the other at top right of cardstock. Glimmermist the area – I have used Tattered Angels: Sunflower. Remove masks. (As an additional option, you can now machine stitch the inside edge of the glimmermisted area for extra dimension. Alternatively, use a black pen to trace the outlined shapes. I have done both.)

4. Trim the October Afternoon “Chalkboard” to 5 x 7” and a 2nd piece to 1.5 X 8.5”. Ink all edges.

5. Adhere the larger October Afternoon patterned paper star/circle (pp#1) side up, ¼” from the left side of your cardstock, overlapping the glimmermisted base. Layer and adhere the 2nd patterned paper, grey/chalkboard (pp#2) side up, ¾” up from bottom of pp#1.

6. Trim light green Shabby Chic journal card into 2 uneven pieces. Tuck smaller piece below pp#1 on the right side. Place the 2nd piece of journal card on top of pp#1 on the top left side.

7. Adhere 3 photos (2 x 3”) across pp#2 but still inside pp#1.

8. Trim a sentiment from the Cosmo Cricket patterned paper (pp#3). Ink the edges and tuck under the 3rd photo.

9. Punch 1.5” x2 circles from Cosmo Cricket “ginger” patterned paper (pp#4). Ink the edges with brown. Punch another 2 circles from pp#2 and trim slightly to fit inside pp#4 circles. Ink edges and adhere to the larger circles. Cut each circle in half. Discard 1 semi-circle.

10. Tuck 2 semi-circles side by side below pp#1 and next to the Shabby Chic card and adhere once they are in place. Tuck the remaining semi-circle under the top right corner of pp#1.

11. Handcut a star shape from the felt and layer 2 buttons on top. Adhere to layout below/center of photos #1 and #2. Adhere a 3rd button to the top semicircle.

12. Tie a piece of string to the basic grey:curio “moth stamp” sticker and use it to overlap photo#3 and pp#3. Add a small button to the sticker’s right edge.

13. Add title with the American Crafts LAX thickers and journal.

How-to | create your own background

Today's tip comes from Wendy...

In this post, Wendy shows you how to create your own background using dress makers pattern paper and mists. Incredibly effective...might just have to try it myself.

Step 1 - crumple the dress makers pattern paper

Step 2 - smear mod podge over your cardstock

Step 3 - adhere the dress pattern in a crumpled style across your cardstock

Step 4 - wait for it to dry (that's the hard part if you're impatient like me)

Step 5 - choose a colour that compliments your layout and spray mist in splotches across the background

Step 6 - smear the mist across the background with kitchen paper

Step 7 - wait for the mist to dry. You can speed up the process by using a heat gun to dry it.

Your background is now ready to create your layout!

How-to | stretch your supplies

Today's tip comes from Crystal...

The blue journaling card in the “Giselle” kit is so versatile and easy to use in different ways! First I cut a journaling tag from it by using the green shipping tag as a template. Once I had stuck it to my page, I hand-wrote some journaling on it.

I then decided to print some more journaling onto it by running it through the printer and printing directly onto it. I then cut my journaling into strips and stuck it on my layout. This is the perfect way to add a personal touch on your page without the stress if you don’t like your own handwriting. Adding a bit of doodling around the strips can add a little interest too!

Finally with the last scraps of it I had left, I stuck a piece in the top corner to write my date on. Along with a piece of the “barcode” from one of my pattern papers and a little bit of the twine, it made a perfect little cluster to finish the page off.

Here's the final result...

There are so many more uses for such a simple item and the possibilities are endless. I would love to see what else you come up with!

Giselle | Inspiration by Ebony van der Starre

Ebony returns to the Storyboard family with these gorgeous layouts this month using Giselle! I always love the unexpected touches she adds to her layouts. Like on this one...Ebony has painted the black lettering red! I wouldn't have thought of that in a million years...easy to achieve and incredibly effective. Love the splashes of yellow on the kraft cardstock and the handmade concertina flower too.

For this layout, Ebony has trimmed out the flowers from the Basic Grey "Curio" paper and combined them with the diecut lace and dress makers pattern paper. Strips of patterned paper layered over a painted background give this layout a beautifully light feeling. The Pink Paislee artison elements frame has also bee sprayed with mist to change up the colour and further enhance the embossed pattern.

A crumpled background created using the dress makers pattern paper and ink make a gorgeous base for this layout. Love the diecut lace trimmed into a circle popping out from underneath the photo. Ebony has used a load of Basic Grey stickers to add detail to her layout. The yellow sticker flower is finished off with a button and the edge of the sticker has been traced in black pen.

Giselle | Inspiration by Leanne Allinson

Looking for more inspiration? Look no further! Leanne Allinson has been creating up a storm with the Giselle kit. Leanne scraps in 8.5x11 and I love the simplicity of her layouts. The Basic Grey "Curio" collection features a heavily inked border and Leanne has replicated that look after she's trimmed the paper down to size. I love the little peek-a-boo of grid in the top right here.

Leanne has created a gorgeous flower using the dress makers pattern paper, and used the 7Gypsies label stickers to create journaling strips.

Leanne has cleverly used non-Christmas themed papers and embellishments to create a Christmas layout. The bingo card is the perfect background to anchor the photos.

A cluster of embellishments has been layered over the top of the journaling spot to create interest and dimension. Love the little felt flower with doodled edge!

The neutral grey cardstock, and grey tones of the October Afternoon "chalkboard" paper provide a great base for the colourful strips laid over the top. The journaling sticker takes centre stage and is connected using bakers twine. Love the doodled border around the outside edge.

The layers have been created using a combination of patterned paper, sticker strips and twine. A simple spiral flower adds that little something extra and pop.

Giselle | Inspiration by Wendy Smith

Today I get to reveal the gorgeous layouts created by the super talented Wendy Smith! For this first layout, Wendy shows how to tone down a patterned background with a neutral layer over the top. Adding ink to the punched border really makes that pattern pop! Inking around the edges of your elements allows each of them to shine. The Prima flowers have been layered and finished off with a sticker for the centre.

This next layout is masculine, yet soft, showing you that you can incorporate pretty flowers and lace, and still achieve an effective boy layout. Grey, blue and yellow are a fabulous colour combination. The bingo card has been laid on its side to create a mount for the photo and subtitle.

Wendy has distressed the journaling tag and doodled around its border to add even more dimension.

Now, here's a clever use of the bingo card! Wendy has trimmed out the numbers from the bingo card before using it on the layout above, thereby extending the use of the product. I love the unexpected and random nature of the numbers down the left hand side. The diecut lace layered over the bon bon cardstock looks so beautiful.

Wendy has also inked the Pink Paislee artisan element frame to allow the embossed detail to really stand out!

Last, but certainly not least...Wendy has created this gorgeously girlie page with a pink and red combination that compliments her photo beautifully and the touches of cream and green really liven this scheme up. Wendy has fussy-cut the flower details from the Scenic Route printed cardstock.

A doodled border has been added to the Basic Grey flower. Prima flowers and a button have been layered over the top, with foam dots placed underneath to lift up the flower. Love the Prima flourish extending from it to finish.

Giselle | Inspiration by Crystal Bowman

So, the great thing about having a diverse design team here at Storyboard Kits, is the inspiring eye candy that lands in my inbox! Crystal Bowman has been creating up a storm ever since the "Giselle" kit landed in her hot little hands. Love that she flips between 12x12 and 8.5x11!

For this layout, Crystal has created a landscape orientation 8.5x11 using the reverse of the Cosmo Cricket circa 1934 "Ginger" patterned paper. A splash of red paint really makes this layout pop! Great use of the elements paper too. How sweet is the "I love you" speech bubble!

To make her journaling strips stand out, Crystal has drawn a doodled border around each one! Very effective.

Love the texture Crystal has create here by using the dress making pattern paper as her background. A few Basic Grey stickers, super cute photos and a Prima flower finish this layout off beautifully.

Using border stickers on your layouts adds instant impact for very little fuss.

Basic Grey's Curio range has a gorgeously grungy vintage feel. Crystal has added extra ink to the edges and splashes of brown paint to further highlight the background. A simple torn strip underneath her cluster of photos creates a great landing space for her title and journaling. Love the tag extending off the page too!

Love a little bit of bling! Prima's crystal flourishes with fimo flowers are super easy to apply and add instant zing to your layout!

The Giselle kit is currently sold out, however there may be a couple left over after Friday night's crop night. I've also been putting together the finishing touches on February's kit too...just have to visit my favourite trim place on Monday. Watch this space!

Giselle | Inspiration by Kim Arnold

This month, Kim shows how versatile the "Giselle" kit can really be. You wouldn't know that all four layouts came from the same kit! That's the beauty of mixing up the manufacturers and collections...you definitely get more bang for your buck! For this layout, Kim has created a sweet ruffle using the dress makers pattern paper by gathering the paper before adhering. The large flower sticker has also been given dimension by adding foam dots underneath the petals.

Create a cluster of embellishments by trimming out pieces from Cosmo Cricket's circa 1934 elements paper, and combining it with stickers, flowers and journaling spot by Shabby Chic Crafts. Adding foam tape behind some of the elements creates a gorgeous layered look! Kim's title has been created using a Making Memories slice, then adhered to the Pink Paislee artisan elements frame.

Create a fun edge to your page by using your favourite border punch! How sweet do those little birds look?! Kim has also created a gorgeous spiral flower using the felt from the kit. The felt has been sprayed with mist to change the colour. Peapod twine wrapped around the bottom of the photo and bingo card creates the perfect balance and visual triangle of bottle green on the layout.

Create a layout celebrating your friendships! Here Kim has used the "to do" journaling spot and mini market letters to document the various things Kim and her friend love to do together. A fun organza bow tied through the tag finishes off this layout beautifully. Love the doily paper layered over the kraft cardstock...a subtle but effective background.

Hi, I am Wendy Smith, and I live in Tasmania with my husband Duncan, my 2 boys Charlie(5y) and Angus (4y), our 2 dogs Barkley and Max, and our cat Jazz. I have been scrapping since 2004, and just love this craft as it enables me to release creative energy, as well as preserve precious memories for years to come. I have always been a crafty kind a girl, and since finding scrapping I can’t picture myself doing anything else.

I would describe the kind of scrapbooking I do as masculine, bright, layered, and clustered. I love using everyday photos as these are the moments and events that I like to capture and remember. I love trying out new techniques and products, and get very excited when the postie van arrives...lol. I hope to inspire and be inspired on my journey here with you all, and hope you all love Storyboard Kits as much as we all do.

Hi! My name is Leanne and I am so excited to be joining the team here at Storyboard Kits! I have been scrapping for close to three years now and am completely addicted! Lucky for me, my four children are willing subjects in my creative process. I live in beautiful, sunny Queensland, just north of Brisbane and I guess it reflects in my style of scrapping. I think it is best described as fresh and clean with clustered elements within white space. However, I am quite happy to create a layout that is “earthy”. I also have a strong urge to capture the stories behind the photos and therefore will always have journaling on my pages….somewhere!

In most of my layouts you will find smallish photo/photos (not a lot), handwritten journaling telling “the story”, some stitching and the rule of thirds principle. I now only scrap in 8.5” x 11” size pages. This size suits me perfectly! I hope I can inspire others to scrap the “day to day” living aspect of their lives. To create something that you can look back on in the future and truly reflect on how things used to be. I love the opportunities this craft has given me. Especially when I get to document my family's history. I am thrilled and honored to be a part of this amazing team and I can‟t wait to get started!

Hey all, I’m Crystal Bowman and I currently live in Ipswich, QLD (though this could change at any time seeing as we’re a RAAF family!) I am lucky to have three beautiful children who are defiantly not camera shy, so they are the perfect subjects to scrap along with my soon-to-be husband Nathan!

I have only been scrapbooking for a couple of years so I guess you could say I’m a “fresh face” but I love every minute of it and I am super excited to be part of the Storyboard Kits Design Team! You could describe my style as minimal, with lots of bright colour, paint and a “must have” for me, doodling! I hope that I can inspire you all during my time here.

Fisher | Inspiration by Kim Arnold

Time to share some layouts using this month's kit, Fisher! Kim Arnold has been busier than one of Santa's elves, creating these gorgeous layouts!

Santa's Helper

For this layout, Kim has used a sequence of photos and teamed it with a simple punched border and cluster of embellishments. The german scrap border has been misted to change the colour to suit her project.

Naughty or Nice

This background paper by WeRMemory Keepers is just so perfect, and most of us have children that sit on the border. lol. Luckily Benson made it to the nice list. A simple clustering of embellishments, including that gorgeous lasercut button by Kellie Christie, add a nice touch to Kim's layout...as does the stamped background. Adding a stamped image to your background adds even further dimension to your layout!

For this layout, Kim has used a template to create a photo collage. Consider using templates for layouts where you want to include loads of photos! Kim has also journaled directly onto the bookplate.

We all have this photo in our stash. The family sitting in front of the Christmas tree. This paper by Websters Pages is all that was required to create this layout, as it has preprinted embellies and journaling spots! Kim has gathered vintage paper lace to create a fun and beautiful border for her photo. Trimmed out Santas from Pink Paislee's trading card paper, a glittered wren tag and loads of twine finish off this layout beautifully.

It feels like only yesterday that I announced the first Storyboard Kits design team, and here we go again! If you’re interested in becoming a design team member for Storyboard Kits for the period January to June 2011, read on...

Design Team requirements

Devote six months of your scrappy time to Storyboard.
Create four layouts and one “how-to” blog post per month using the contents of the current Storyboard Kit
Promote Storyboard wherever possible, including posting sneaks, kit reveals, competitions etc to your blog
Meet set deadlines each month.

Design Team Perks
Each month, you will receive:

The main kit plus an add-on kit every three months
A generous discount for other items sold at Storyboard
Promotion of your work through the Storyboard website, facebook page and blog

The fine print...

Applications are welcomed from all corners of the globe.
Previous design team experience is not required.
If successful, Storyboard Kits must be the only kit club you design for (design team positions on online stores, manufacturers and challenge sites are ok).

So, how do you apply?

Your name
Your address

Its sneak peek time!! I can't believe its nearly kit release time again. I just loved putting this kit together, and the team are busily creating away. I can't wait to share their layouts with you. Just to get your creative juices flowing...here's a sneak peek of Kim's layouts. Kim has created five layouts with the Evanthe and coordinating add-on embellishment kits so far and still has plenty of product left to create at least another one. Talk about great value!

I will share more sneaks with you a bit closer to the date. Remember, there are still a handful of October's kits left in the Storyboard store. If you wish to purchase both Dennison and Evanthe, you can then have them shipped together. Also, don't forget...add-ons ship free when purchased with a main kit. The add-on embellishment and cardstock kits that are currently available, will coordinate beautifully with Evanthe. Just a thought.

"Camryn" was released this evening, and was sold out within minutes! I knew this one would be popular...even I missed out. lol.

The add-on embellishment and cardstock packs are still for sale, and will coordinate beautifully with "Brodie" which is still on sale here.

SOLD OUT!

No sooner had I hit the release button, all kits were sold out! I even missed out on one of my own kits this month! I knew this one would be popular, so held out giving one to myself so that someone else could purchase one. Bummer for me...good for someone else.

Kits were very limited in number this month due to the number of subscriptions commenced, but don't fear, kit numbers will increase in the coming months.

What can I say about "Beckett"? This kit will appeal to a lot of scrapbookers. Great colours and elements for boys...with enough girlie stuff thrown in to please everyone. I can't wait to share with you the full kit and the design team's examples!

"Abigail" sketch inspiration...

I just love sketches!! One of my other ventures is Inspired Blueprints...a sketch site and community that has over 1,900 members. If you're new to scrapbooing or your mojo is lacking (and let's face it...that happens to all of us occasionally), sketches are a great jumping off point for a layout. In addition to the sketches I create for Inspired Blueprints, I will also be bringing you sketches here at Storyboard. The sketches will be based on four of the layouts by the Storyboard design team! There will be a mix of single photo and multi photo sketches...so you're bound to find one that suits your project. Print them out and file them away for future use...or better still, create something today!
